Enjoy the FUN FLOAT along the Red River at Red RiverFest 2023. Clay City Loop 4 mile (~2hr) fun float launches from Clay City Park Kayak/Canoe Launch and ends at Carmen’s Landing Public Access. Participants will paddle along the beautiful and tame lower section of the Red River, a journey that will immerse them in the beauty of the Red River’s richly historic, rural, farm community surrounding Clay City, KY. The paddle is perfect for socially distanced camaraderie of fellow paddlers on the water with the safety of event partners, Powell County & Wolfe County Search & Rescue + RedSTAR on water and on site. If you haven’t paddled the “Clay City Loop” it is worth a try! It is the only place on the Red River that you can paddle without the need of a shuttle as the river wraps around historic Clay City and you can just walk the .2 miles from the takeout back to the launch/your vehicle at Clay City Park. This section is downriver from neighboring Daniel Boone National Forest and Red River Gorge Geological area. Come for Red RiverFest and stay for the whole weekend to enjoy all that the RRG has to offer. See all that the Red River has to offer from headwaters to the Kentucky River confluence.

2024 Fun Float Cost (does not include sales tax & processing fees)

  • Teen + Adult Registration Fee (13+) : $20

  • Youth (5-13): $15

    • under 5: Free & must be in boat with adult.

  • Rental Paddlecraft Rates (in addition to registration fee)

    • Single Kayak (seats one person) – Price: $25

    • tandem canoe (seats 2 persons) — Price: $35
